A series of drone strikes hit a displacement camp in northern Ethiopia, killing at least 15 civilians, including five children.
The attacks on Thursday struck makeshift shelters housing internally displaced people in the Amhara region. Witnesses said a drone circled the area before launching multiple strikes that destroyed over 20 shelters and sent families fleeing.
Rescue workers and local sources confirmed that at least 10 other children under the age of five suffered severe injuries. Survivors reported that no active fighting was occurring near the camp when the ordnance landed.
The Ethiopian military did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The assault deepens a humanitarian catastrophe across the Horn of Africa nation. Regional violence involving federal forces, Amhara Fano militias, and northern rebel groups has escalated sharply. Aid organizations warn that the country’s health infrastructure is buckling under the weight of continuous aerial bombardments and restricted access.
